Many thanks to fit4Schools & WeAreTeachers for sponsoring this conversation about healthy lifestyles and FREE health activation program! All opinions are 100% my own.
6 hours of sitting at a desk is too much for young kids. It is important to give children the opportunity to move and be active throughout the day. Good teachers get kids moving and incorporate healthy lifestyle choices into existing curriculum. From hands-on lessons to activity breaks between classes, there are many ways to start and keep healthy habits in the classroom. If you are a teacher or parent looking to improve your students mobility, provide energy boosts and highlight general health and well being skills, then fit4Schools is a must check out free resource for you.
What is fit4Schools?
Fit4Schools is a health activation program for teachers (and parents too). There are printable resources, lesson plans, tips, videos, daily activities and more to help provide opportunities for kids to recharge and re-connect with their body throughout the day. Click here for fit4Schools The fit4Schools system of resources and programs goes beyond a tip of the day calendar It provides lesson plans, printables, school programs, childcare training, mobile apps, websites and more.
These resources are a FREE program designed by Sanford Health in collaboration with MD to:
- Empower children and families to make simple lifestyle changes to benefit their health.
- Start and keep healthy lifestyle habits.
- Provide activities that give students’ energy boosts throughout the day.
Great news! Not only is Fit4Schools program free, but is also aligned with national standards, making it easy to fit into your learning day.
AND… if you’re parents are looking for ways to connect, fit4schools lets you create a classroom online where parents can follow.

The Kid-Favorite part of fit4Schools – FitBoost!
My kids LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the fitBoost!!!!
Spin the virtual wheel and see what 3 movement activities you get to do. From pretending to shoot hoops to lunges, the fitBoost gives teachers a super easy and fun way to incorporate movement into the day. Gives children a chance to move in different ways.
Adults – Read and demonstrate the activity for younger children. FYI , the directions for the activity are shown as soon as the timer starts. We found it easier to play a few rounds to gain familiarity with all the actions before doing it with the whole class.
For older kids or once younger children become familiar with the activities, invite a child or small group of children to be the “activity leader” for this fitBoost break.
Take three minutes to add a little MOVE to your day.
